Ashly is an experienced teacher, previously with a music school in Scarborough, preparing and mentoring students of all ages for examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has obtained an Honours B.A., University of Toronto with a Double Major in History and Political Science.

She is skilled with sign language, having been raised by a deaf parent.
