Richard studied classical violin with Joyce Gundy and composition with Dr. Roman Toi, at the Royal Conservatory of Music. He subsequently did his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto, winning the graduating scholarship in his class. More recently, he pursued a course in fiddle playing with Anne Lederman at the World Music Centre in Toronto.
He currently plays viola with the Quinte Philharmonic Orchestra in Belleville, and operates his own private studio in Cobourg as well as teaching at Upscale Music Studios two days per week. He is fluent in French and Spanish. Richard is a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society. He also maintains a home page on violinist.com
In his spare time, he spoils his guinea pigs…fresh food delivered from Toronto and lots of attention.
